ALTERED EGO chronicles the life and mind of a struggling artist whose reality is influenced by his own creations, every thought and idea reshaping the world around him.
Mark
Mark is a twenty-four year old struggling artist / cartoonist / writer. A bit self involved, constant worrier and someone who tends to live a little bit too much in the worlds his mind creates. To Mark, these worlds, and the characters that inhabit them, tend to be more real than any rational person might be able to accept.
Steve
Steve is Mark’s twenty-one year old best friend and roommate. A year ago Steve wrote a silly little program that changed the way web coding displayed web pages. Mark still thinks he works at Taco Dells, unaware of the life Steve leads away from him. Mark is a but obscure when it comes to thinking about, and paying attention to, anything that doesn’t pertain directly to his art.
Cassie Watson
Cassie isa beautiful, red-headed twenty six year old new neighbor of Mark and Steve’s. She also happens to be Mark’s arch enemy, although Cassie is unaware of this. In the eighth grade Cassie rejected Mark and, although she has no memory of the incident, Mark has not forgotten. Cassie is a brilliant scientist whom Mark’s suspects is attempting to create the perfect man in her apartment. He may just be right.
Death
The Angel of Death. Azrael. Grim Reaper. Michael. Gabriel.
Ozwald
Ozwald is a half finished, half forgotten almost idea created at some point by Mark. Appearing sometimes as Felix the Cat and others as Buck Rogers, an alien or any number of maybe ideas. Ozwald may be the manifestation of Mark’s inner voice, his subconscious and / or his ego. However Ozwald may appear, whatever his function might be, he remains not only a semi loyal companion but many times the voice of reason inside Mark’s head.
Sister Death
No relation to Death (see above). The original Sister Death is a super powered bad chick. Not to be confused with the more Asian, and more marketable, “Official Sister Death” that went on to appear in Mark’s original graphic novel, “The Lost Book”. This version of Sister Death is dark, evil and manipulative as well as being a red head. Strangely enough, as ALL of Mark’s villainous women are.
